Full-Time Scenic Painter/Craftsperson

Salary: $17.00 to $20.00 /hour


Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual to play a key role as a full-time team member in the scenic department. The scenic painter/craftsperson is primarily responsible for painting props, set pieces, backdrops and applying faux finishes. Additional responsibilities would include the application and installation of vinyl, prop design and sculpting. A big plus would be if the candidate has some experience with carpentry to assist our scenic builder as needed.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, well organized, a problem solver with a professional demeanor that is able to communicate effectively with managers and team members. They must have comprehensive knowledge and experience in all forms of paint and prep materials. Candidate must have flexibility with work schedules that may include occasional late nights, some weekends, travel and overtime.

Florida Event Décor is the premier special event company serving clients in Florida and throughout the U.S. We are a full service décor, design and production company providing services for corporate events. We maintain a 20,000 square foot warehouse space containing rental props, lighting, furniture, and custom built items used in creating special events.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities

  • Scenic painting (faux finish, age, mural, brush, roller & spray)
  • Performing layout, sculpting, theming and painting of various props from creative direction and/or conceptual drawings.
  • Performing air brush and conventional spraying, fades and blending.
  • Performing cosmetic fiberglass repairs and gel coats utilizing various materials.
  • Documentation of paints and procedures used in modifications and repairs.
  • Applying vinyl and graphics to décor and set items
  • Work outside of scenic painters parameters when needed
  • Share knowledge and creative ideas to grow the business and meet the vision of the client

Qualifications and Skills

Skills/Requirements

  • Degree or supplemental related experience
  • Proficiency in painting large scale props
  • Strong knowledge of faux finishing, graining, texturing, stenciling, color mixing and matching, layout, and scaling
  • Fine wood finishing, clear coating, spray gun
  • Experience with plural component foam and hard coating spray systems
  • Scenic building/carpentry experience is a plus
  • Any graphic design experience is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical eye for detail and aesthetics
  • Leadership skills and problem solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime as required
